I have always been strongly attracted to the mystical and moving words of this traditional 15th century Christmas Carol 'Adam lay ybounden' which tells the story of Adam taking the apple in the garden of Eden. Here my setting is for SATB choir - sung either 'a capella' or with a provided keyboard part. The vocal ranges are for good amateur singers and this setting works well both for the 90-strong amateur choir in the accompanying demo recording or for a small chamber choir with say one or two to a part.
