Composed by Paul d'Amore. Broadway,Children,Christmas,Pop,Rock. Octavo. 21 pages. PdMusic #2028519. Published by pdMusic (A0.982806).
THIS IS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE FULL SCORE ARRANGEMENT, BUT THE SONG IS THE SAME: (The MP3's are DEMOS. One is from Sibelius and is the Full Score version partially realized without the voices singing the lyrics. The other is the "pop" version DEMO which is provided on the Expanded Piano Score page and the Lead Sheet page for this song. You should listen to both.) Fully produced, this song is antiphonal, and the power of the music is enhanced through the Time-Space relationships of the performance venue. This song has a great melody with a perfectly paced harmonic rhythm, and everyone will walk away humming the catchy yet original Chorus. That is why the song works so well for either an intimate solo performance, or a full orchestra and chorus with vocal soloist. The song is an annunciation of the Joy of the Season and an anthem to Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men, Merry Christmas To All, and Happy New Year! The counterpoint of the unique, original, and memorable Christmas motives intertwine with partial memories of "Jingle Bells" (...and was that "Dies Irea" in the Tuba line?) building to a celebration of the Holiday Season all enriched through the antiphonal performance. There are scores for Full Chorus, Expanded Piano Score, and Lead Sheet. Parts are available on request as well. The final section, beginning the descent in the Golden Mean, brings in each original Christmas motive one-by-one, superimposing them above and below their predecessor almost as an elaborate "round", in-and-about the performance space, and introduces old familiar "Fa la la's", "Now And Forever" and "Amen" motives completing the journey of Christmas reminiscences which burst joyously onto the present and into the future. The powerful aural experience of music is transcendent. This is the piece to end a concert with.
