The atmospheric first movement features silently depressed keys, pedal sounds and dampened notes. The second movement is chorale-like with sparse delicately punctuated melodic fragments. The third movement was inspired by the call signals used by Shortwave stations when they are off-line. In this version, the calls are subtly varied on each reiteration. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. The duration is 15'44.
