Our presentation here uses the SAME rhythm in every measure in the left hand. Only the notes vary, usually only one pitch, to convey the harmony that is also such a familiar characteristic of this modal tune. It gives a less-experienced player a chance to do something that is both very common to the holiday season, and something that is less common, an ostinato. Easier than it looks, harder than it sounds... It can be repeated as many times as the player chooses. The sample audio plays once through. This piece is not usually sung outside of a choral setting, but this arrangement is in the traditional key of G minor, and could be sung with as well. Pedal as you see fit. MBB.
