"There is no A major in Dminor key" that is true in a natural minor scale, but not in an harmonic minor scale. The use of A major in this case create tension, which is resolved by Dm (V degree to I degree). It's the base of our music system, tension/resolution. Beside, the tension is accentuated if you play A7 rather than just Amajor. You're wrong about the Edim, yes it has almost the same notes as Amajor, but in this case (Dm), Edim is the II degree and there is no tension/resolution when you play the II degree to I degree. Play the grid with Edim, and then play it again with A7, you will imediately see the difference, and surely you will prefer with A7 ^^

Good job, but I think it sounds better when you remplace C7 Gm A by : Gm6 Gm A7 --0---0---0-- --3---3---2-- --3---3---0-- --2---0---2-- --x---x---0-- --3---3------
